The Town of Payson and the communities of Pine and Strawberry are located in the heart of Arizona in what is known as "The Rim Country", northeast of the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan Area. The drive up State Route 87 passes through some of the most beautiful desert and mountain landscapes in the entire state. Rim Country, as we are known, lies at various altitudes, Payson at 5000', Pine and Strawberry, a short distance north, from 5400' to 6000'. We are rural, with Payson's population near 13,000. With the Pine-Strawberry area and the neighboring communities of Star Valley, Christopher Creek and other outlying areas, our total year-round residents approaches 50,000 individuals.
